The Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League is proud to announce that the Elmira Pioneers have set a new single season PGCBL attendance record with 50,369 fans attending games at historic Dunn Field this summer.
“The Pioneers set new collegiate team records the last two years and the change in ownership has carried them to stratospheric heights” stated PGCBL President Jeff Kunion. The Pioneers have seven home games remaining in the 2012 regular season and have already eclipsed last year’s record of 35,453. The Pioneers are averaging 3,648 fans per game in 2012 and saw a season high number of 4,182 fans pack into Dunn Field on opening night.
“Lots of hard work went into bringing Dunn Field back to life. We couldn’t be happier with the support that we’ve gotten from the community and fans this season” stated Pioneers co-owner Don Lewis. “The ownership group along with our entire staff looks forward to building on the attendance mark as well as being involved with the community. We are excited and ready to finish out the PGCBL season strong” stated Pioneers co-owner Nellie Nichols.
The Pioneers will be home on Sunday, July 15th for mascot mania as the Pioneers will celebrate Stitches birthday and invite all fans to come out and enjoy a great time at the ballpark as gates open at 4 pm. Elmira will also be home on Monday, July 16th for DeMets turtle toss night with the first pitch at 7:05 pm.
